Coffee, Cards & Random Life Talks: A Super Chill Afternoon with Tarot

A small round table.
Two cups of warm tea.
A deck of tarot and oracle cards stacked neatly in the middle.
And two women who definitely planned to “just hang out”… but ended up having a mini life-deep-talk session with the universe.

It wasn’t dramatic.
No incense smoke flying around.
No mysterious chanting.

Just coffee shop vibes, soft lighting, and the kind of conversation that slowly turns from “So how have you been?” into “Wait… why is this card describing my entire life?”

The Setup: Cozy Café Energy

We were sitting in a cute little café corner — plants climbing up the wall, warm light bouncing off the marble table, everything feeling calm and homey.

Then the cards came out.

And suddenly, the afternoon shifted from casual hangout to:

“Okay universe, I’m listening.”

We shuffled.
We laughed.
We tried not to overthink.
(We failed at not overthinking.)

And then the first three tarot cards were laid out:

  • Ace of Swords
  • 9 of Discs
  • 4 of Wands

Let’s just say… things got interesting.

Ace of Swords – The “Okay, Be Honest” Card

This card felt like that friend who gently says,
“Are you sure you’re not just avoiding the truth?”

It’s clarity energy.
New perspective.
Cutting through confusion.

The vibe was very:
“You already know what needs to be said.”

Not scary. Not dramatic. Just honest.

And honestly? Sometimes that’s all we need — a reminder to stop overcomplicating things.

9 of Discs – Main Character Energy

This card is THAT girl.

Independent. Grounded. Surrounded by abundance. Comfortable in her own space.

It felt like a reminder that we’ve actually built more than we give ourselves credit for.

Work? Growth? Personal development?
It’s been happening.

Sometimes we’re so busy chasing the next thing that we forget to look around and say,
“Oh… wait. I did that.”

This card was basically:
“Pause. Appreciate yourself.”

And we definitely took that moment.

4 of Wands – Celebration, Finally

If the 9 of Discs was personal glow-up energy, the 4 of Wands felt like shared happiness.

Community. Partnership. Good news. Stability.

It’s the “we made it through” card.

It made the whole reading feel light. Like whatever’s ahead isn’t heavy — it’s supportive.

And honestly? That was such a refreshing feeling.

Then the Oracle Cards Came In…

And this is where things got softer.

Some of the messages were:

  • “I’m just a breath of life — I am worth more than what I believe.”
  • “I am a perfect being of light — freeing myself of perfectionism.”
  • “Otonan – rebirth, inner child protection.”
  • “Lontar – It’s not how quickly it’s done, but how mindfully it’s made.”

Why do oracle cards always hit straight to the heart?

The perfectionism message?
Ouch. Accurate.

The “worth more than what I believe” line?
Why did that feel personal?

It wasn’t dramatic or emotional in a heavy way. It was gentle. Like a reminder from someone who cares about you.

Slow down.
Be kinder to yourself.
You don’t have to rush everything.

And that Lontar message about doing things mindfully instead of quickly?
That one stayed.

Because let’s be honest — we’re all in a hurry these days.

The Best Part? The Laughing.

Tarot with a friend is different.

Yes, there are serious moments.

But there’s also:

“Why is this card exposing you like that?”
“No because that’s literally what happened.”
“Okay but why is this so accurate?”

We weren’t scared of the messages.
We weren’t trying to predict the future.

It felt more like reflection.

Like the cards were just helping us say out loud what we already felt inside.

What I Actually Love About Tarot

It’s not about fate.

It’s not about “this WILL happen.”

It’s about perspective.

It gives you space to pause.
To think.
To check in with yourself.

Sometimes you don’t need answers.
You just need better questions.

And sitting there — with tea, cards, and someone you’re comfortable with — it felt grounding.

Not mystical.
Not overwhelming.

Just… real.

It Wasn’t About the Cards.

Honestly?

The magic wasn’t just in the deck.

It was in:

The smiles.
The shared understanding.
The safe space to talk about things we don’t always say out loud.

There’s something really comforting about someone looking at you and saying,

“You’re doing better than you think.”

And actually meaning it.

The After-Feeling

When we packed up the cards and finished our drinks, it didn’t feel like we had “predicted” anything.

It felt like we cleared mental clutter.

Like we reminded ourselves:

  • We’re allowed to grow.
  • We’re allowed to celebrate.
  • We’re allowed to not be perfect.
  • We’re allowed to take our time.

And maybe that’s the real point.

Not to control what’s coming next —
but to feel a little more steady walking into it.

If you ever get the chance, try it.

Grab a friend.
Grab a drink.
Pull a few cards.

You might not find your destiny.

But you might find clarity.
Or reassurance.
Or just a really good laugh.

And honestly?
That’s already more than enough.
